Show 50 WEBER COLLEGE - OGDEN, UTAH WEBER COLLEGE - OGDEN, UTAH 51 Requirements for the Certificate of Completion are: Completion of at least ninety hours of approved work, exclusive of physical education activities and Physical Education 40 or 41. The work must include: 1. Orientation. (To be taken during the freshman year.) 2. Physical Education 40 or 41. (To be taken during the freshman year.) 3. Three quarters of selected physical education activities. (To be taken during the freshman year.) 4. The successful completion of the two-year terminal course as outlined in the catalogue, or a two-year course as outlined by the Dean of Instruction. The Dean of Instruction has the authority to modify the above graduation requirements according to the needs of the individual. In addition to the above requirements, candidates for the Certificate of Completion in the trades must successfully pass the examinations as designated by the Trade Advisory Committee. The Certificate of Completion is designed for students who desire to complete their formal education at the close of the second college year. Before a student can become a candidate for graduation, his scholastic record must show that he has satisfied the requirements for en trance, that he can fulfill all the requirements for graduation on the completion of the course for which he is registered, and that he has an average of not less than C, a ratio of at least 1.00, in all his college work. Before a student can become a candidate for graduation, he must have completed thirty quarter hours of residence work at Weber College. All candidates for graduation are required to be present at the Commencement Exercises. Any exceptions to these requirements are made by the President. TRAINING RECORD CARD A Training Record Card is issued to the trade preparatory students when their course of training is completed or when they leave school for placement on a job. This card indicates the units of work which have been successfully completed by the student. CERTIFICATE OF PREPARATORY TRAINING A Certificate of Preparatory Training is issued to vocational students who complete a prescribed training program. The Training Record Card and the Certificate of Preparatory Training are issued in recognition of training and accomplishment. They do not indicate graduation. Requirements for Graduation Weber College grants the title of Associate of Arts or the title of Associate of Science, and a Certificate of Completion. Students who expect to be graduated should arrange their programs to conform with the requirements for one of these titles. Requirements for the title of Associate of Arts or the title of Associate of Science are: Completion of at least ninety quarter hours of approved college work, exclusive of physical education activities and Physical Education 40 or 41. The college work must include: 1. English 1, 2, 3. (To be taken during the freshman year.) 2. Orientation. (To be taken during the freshman year.) 3. Physical Education 40 or 41 and three quarters of selected activities. (To be taken during the freshman year.) 4. A total of twelve quarter hours from each of the following groups: Biological Science: Bacteriology, Botany, Hygiene, Physiology, and Zoology. Physical Science: Chemistry, Geography, Geology, Mathematics, and Physics. A total of four quarter hours of laboratory work must be completed in the biological sciences or the physical sciences, or in both groups of classified subjects. Social Science: Economics, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology. Language Group: A total of sixteen quarter hours from this group, which includes English, Foreign Language, and Speech. (English 1, 2, and 3 may be counted in this group.) Candidates for the title of Associate of Arts must have a minimum of twenty-five quarter hours of one foreign language or its equivalent. (Three high school units of one and the same language satisfy foreign language requirements.) All students contemplating work beyond the bachelor's degree should complete the foreign language requirements in their lower division work. It is recommended that students pursuing a major in English, Foreign Language, Music, and Speech qualify for the title of Associate of Arts. Candidates for the title of Associate of Arts or the title of Associate of Science, who desire training leading to specialization in Agriculture, Business, Dentistry, Education, Engineering, Forestry, Home Economics, Law, Medicine, Nursing, and Social Work will find their respective curricula listed on the bellows-fold insert sheet. The titles of Associate of Arts or Associate of Science are designed for college preparatory students. Students majoring in chemistry and physics may not be able to complete twelve hours in each group due to the many subjects required in the physical sciences. Students majoring in these fields should carefully plan their courses with their instructor. |
