Show Marriott-Slaterville History November 2008 UDOT has installed the freeway signs indicating Marriott-Slaterville for the 12th Street exit. The Central Weber Sewer plant is hosting a barbecue for residents on December 6. The Sewer District will hold a public hearing on December 15, to present the proposed sewer rate increase needed for expansion of the sewer plant. Treatment fees for our residents are proposed to increase from $7.50 to $15.00 per month, starting in January 2009. Mr. Slater inquired about the new pipe line construction from the Pioneer Road sewer plant at 2800 West. Mayor Butler advised that the construction will start in December and finish around April. The new line will be installed from the river backward to the sewer plant. The November issue of The Pioneer Post, expressed the thanks of the city to Corey Combe for his donation of eleven trees to the new city office park. The annual fall clean-up was announced in the Post. A dumpster was located at both the Marriott Park and the Slaterville Park from November 14 to 16. It was a free service to residents so that fall waste could be disposed of. It was requested that waste be placed entirely in the dumpster and not left on the ground. The service was sponsored by the city and Waste Management. The project went well. It is that time of year! Santa will be coming to the Senior Center on December 13, 2008, from 9:00 to 11.00 a.m. Breakfast will be served for $2.00 for adults and $1.00 for children 12 and under, by reservation. The Marriott-Slaterville Branch of America First Credit Union and the city are sponsoring the activity. America First donated $500.00 to support the Breakfast with Santa which enabled the price to be lowered for both children and adults. A reminder of the opportunity to nominate someone for the annual community awards was also in the Post. This is a chance to recognize those who have made outstanding contributions to our community. Bits and Pieces Charles (Chick) Hislop was inducted into the Utah Sports Hall of Fame, in recognition of the many years of outstanding success as he served as the Track Coach at Weber State University. Norman Pyke Bowles died November 12, 2008, at the age of 78. Ryan Butler is recovering at home after hospitalization for West Nile virus. |
