Show 20 ACORN who surprised everyone by telling them accurately all of their good traits. Not only spooks and goblins danced that night, but everyone there. And, of course, they had apple cider and pumpkin pie. It certainly was a success. Speaking Contest The classes decided that in order to develop the very best talent in the school along the lines of public speaking, they would hold a series of inter-class contests. The winning class are to have the honor of having their banner on the rostrum until some other class takes the honor away from them by winning another contest. The first of the series was held Tuesday morning, October 27. Great rivalry and class spirit was manifested among the students. The victory went to the Senior class, and great was their rejoicing. Soon needles and tongues were busy, and a beautiful red and white banner was displayed to honor the victorious Seniors. Senior Notes The Senior class has already shown the school who leads. The first class meeting was, indeed, a lively one, and it showed what kind of a spirit the class will have throughout the year. The remainder of the class officers were elected. The class organization stands as follows: Ronald Jensen President Vera Jones Vice-President Wilford Guthrie Secretary and Treasurer Theodore Herbert Athletic Manager Harold Browning Sergeant-at-Arms Reta Ensign Class Reporter Leland Heiner Yell Master The first class party of the season was given by the Senior class on the evening of October 13. It was one of those rare parties, commonly called "crude." Our class has the satisfaction of knowing that never before has such a party been given. Every Senior knows all details. Why moralize? Junior Notes The Junior class has unusually bright prospects before it this year. With the following as its corps of officers we are sure that success is ours. Leland Brewer President Rae Lofgreen Vice-President ACORN 21 Clarence Anderson Secretary and Treasurer Esther Thompson Debating Manager Abraham Stevens Yell Master Trilby Brown Acorn Reporter H. A. Dixon Class Adviser Our boys have worked very hard on the tennis courts, and we hope soon to have some very lively games. All the boys say that the lunch which the Junior girls prepared and served to them after their work on the courts on October 1 was the best they had ever eaten. Sophomore Notes Back again to dear old Weber. It seems strange not to be poor, green Freshmen, but wise Sophomores. We are all very glad to be here and to see our old friends. Now we are Sophomores we are going to try and make our class the best in school: We do not see why we can't, for at present we have the largest class at AVeber. We have had two class meetings. At the first one, held September 23, we choose a good and able adviser, Eli Holton. At the second class meeting, October 2, we elected the following officers: Halvy Bachman Yell Master Arnold Felt Standard Bearer Warren Stallings Athletic Manager We preparing to have a class party, which we know will be a great success. Freshmen Notes There is one class in the school that never needs to be salted down; its members are always fresh. I do not think it necessary to enlighten you in regard to which class this is. Our class officers have been elected with due respect to ability. As our class adviser we have chosen Malcolm Watson. Our class officers are as follows: Ezra Chandler President Bertha Farley Vice-President Louis Scoville Second Vice-President Frank Richards Secretary and Treasurer Julia Wade Acorn Reporter We intend to go in for everything basketball, tennis, debating, and Sophomores. Brother Barker has promised our class two tennis rackets, and we wish to show him our appreciation by making good use of them. Though we may fail in our attempts, we believe that defeat is not in failing, but to fail to rise after once having fallen. |
