Strong The Commercial Art curricula is organized to offer courses in advertising art, sign writing, display, and illustration for either a Type A or Type B program. Advertising Design. A course designed to give practice in repre-sensational drawing and lettering. Representational drawing includes linear perspective and study of light and shade for pictorial representation. Lettering includes study and drill on execution of built-up lettering. Five quarter hours. Autumn. Collett, Strong 52. Advertising Design. A course designed to give practice in figure drawing; lettering and calligraphy. Figure drawing includes the study of the human figure, its action and anatomy. Lettering includes built-up lettering, careful study of type faces and scripts. Calligraphy includes free hand lettering. Five quarter hours. Winter. Collett, Strong 53. Advertising Design. A course designed to give practice in principles of design and color, layout End lettering. Principles of design and color include a study of the fundamentals of design and the theory and practice of color. Layout includes arrangement of advertising copy for newspapers and magazines. A course designed to give practice in advertising the costumed figure; advertising layout and typography; and process illustration. Advertising the costumed figure includes the use of the human figure in fashion drawing from "a posed figure. Advertising layout and typography include a study of the layout of newspapers and magazines. Process illustration includes drawing in various media for reproduction, and principles of line. Five quarter hours. Autumn. Collett, Strong 55. Advertising Design. A course designed to give practice in figure drawing; commercial water color, and poster making. Figure drawing includes drawing the costumed figure for advertising, and quick sketch fashions. Commercial water color includes a study of the illustrated poster. Five quarter hours. Winter. Collett, Strong 56. Advertising Design. A course designed to give practice in air brush painting, photo retouching, packaging, and making up a sample folio. Air brush painting includes the use of the air brush-in illustration and advertising. Photo retouching includes the practice of opaque retouching of points for reproduction.
