Show 22. Clothing: Selection and Construction. A course which provides experience in clothing construction based upon the use of commercial patterns, a practical study in textiles. A study of practical problems in selection and construction of children's clothing and care including renovation of clothing. Three quarter hours. Autumn, Winter, Spring. Mumford 31. Family Health and Infant Care. This course is designed to give the student an understanding of mother and baby care with experience in handling the baby and developing simple nursing techniques in the family situation. Two quarter hours. Autumn, Winter, Spring:. Doss 33. Preparation for Marriage and Family Life. A course designed to help students understand attitudes and relationships in marriage and to develop an appreciation for enriched family life- Includes a study of personality adjustments in marriage, preparation for parenthood and parent-child relationships. A practical course open to all college men and women to help develop an understanding and philosophy of human behavior and relations. Discussions and observation center around child growth, physical, mental, emotional and social, with emphasis upon guidance needed during these periods of development. Designed to give regular experience in the Nursery School, which offers students an opportunity to assist in the proper care and guidance of young children ranging in age from two years to four years. With direction under a trained superviser good techniques and procedures in handling the typical situations of early childhood are experienced, observed, and discussed. Hours in Nursery School to be arranged. Two to four quarter hours. Winter, Spring. * Kunz 37. Parent Education (Parent Participation.) Designed for parents whose children are enrolled in the Nursery School. Techniques in guiding and understanding the young child are emphasized. An adult course in clothing construction skills and techniques. Instruction is largely individual and basic problems center around individual needs, interests, and ability. One quarter hour. Autumn, Winter, Spring. Mumford 76. Slip-cover and Drapery Construction. Designed to develop techniques in constructing drapes, slip covers, lamp shades, and other home furnishings. One quarter hour. Winter. Mumford 77. Meal Preparation. This course is designed for adult home- makers and career wives. It includes practical experience in planning, preparing and serving meals for the family and for special occasions. It places emphasis on advance preparation, attrictive food, new methods, use of new equipment and efficient use of time. One quarter hour. Autumn, Winter, Spring. Tribe DEPARTMENT OF NURSING Two-Year Nursing Program L. F. Doss, J. Law, L. Neville, M. Somers, R. Stewart Weber College is one of the six pilot schools in the country chosen to participate in the Cooperative Research Project in Junior and Community College Education for Nursing of Teachers College, Columbia University. The Two-Year Nursing Program is an integral part of Weber College. It uses those state and community facilities which will contribute and give strength to the program. By placing the student in a college environment, she is able to enjoy the many cultural and social opportunities available to all students. At the same time, she is developing the skills and judgment needed in nursing. Successful completion of the program entitles the graduate to the Associate of Science title from Weber College, and eligibility to write the state examinations for the Registered Nurse License.
