This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show SEPTEMBER TUESDAY 27 1892 Phila. Attended a lecture in Physiology and one on Anatomy. Have looked around the city for rooms and have at last succeeded in getting some in a suitable location. Received a letter from Ward Strooled around the city some. Have met a great many old students of my year. Wrote to Mother & Shepherd WEDNESDAY 28 Phila. Have spent a good part of the day arranging for furniture, ect Prof. Kein held a Surgical Clinic which was very fine. A case of trephining with application of electricity to the brain Met Ward and Harover and others Recd a letter from Mother. We hope to get located soon SEPTEMBER THURSDAY 29 1892 Phila Have been busy most of the day getting things for the house and helping fix up some. Attended a medical clinic held by Prof Wilson this afternoon. It was splendid: had a very interesting case of Cirrhosis of the liver. We ate supper at home to night for the first time and enjoyed it very much. FRIDAY 30 Phila Attended a very good lecture on Bacteriology given by Dr. Couplin Bought a Surgery and have read considerable today. Have also looked around the town some and bought a few things. We are located very comfortably and getting along splendidly. Nice weather. No letters from home. |
