Show On this beach the wave action was just too rough for the would-be swimmers and they had to return. hawaii A Christmas dream came true when the Wildcats went to the Islands. The basketball team left Ogden for the holidays and the student tour group followed them. The student tour was arranged for by Brace Nilson in connection with the Fishburn Travel Agency. The students were in Hawaii from Dec. 8-20. They visited the islands of Hawaii, Maui, Kaui, and Oahu. Their longest stay was in Honolulu where they stayed five days to support the team in their games with the University of Hawaii. They enjoyed the sand, the surf, and even Hawaii's "liquid sunshine." They saw the bright lights on Waikiki, the volcanoes of Hawaii, and the Waimea Canyon of Kaui. Touring the islands in car caravans, learning the hula, and eating poi were some of the activities in which the Wildcats engaged. The spirit of Hawaii was apparent when the students greeted their friends back in Ogden with "Aloha." The long hours on the bus to and from Los Angeles were exhausting. The car caravan was the students equivalent of a guided tour. Dean Daley caught the relaxed spirit of the Islands. |
