Show It is impossible to list the many awards and accomplishments she has received in her lifetime. To list a few, she was a Deaconess at True Vine Baptist Church and President Elect of the Davis County NAACP. She received an appointment with the Bureau of Indian Affairs in New Mexico. She was honored in Who’s Who in America in 1976 and 1977. She was also honored in the Who’s Who of Black Educators in 1977. Her best accomplishment was making a positive difference in the world, She was a wonderful wife, mother, friend, and educator. Opal was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Opal accepted Christ as a personal Savior at an early age. She was a long-time member of the True Vine Baptist Church, and she loved her church and church family. She loved playing the piano and organ. She also enjoyed reading, word games, gardening, sewing and doing needlepoint. She travelled to many countries such as, Holland, Switzerland, Italy, France, Germany, Austria, Jerusalem and all over the United States. She was preceded in death by her husband Master Sergeant Charles N. Patrick, sister Gwendolyn Othella Young Cooper, brother-in-law Joseph Cooper, parents, Lou Parson Young Jr., and her mother Connie V. Young. She is survived by daughter Jacqueline Patrick. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the True Vine Baptist Church, 197 W. 100 S., Kaysville, Utah. Friends may visit with family Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah.
