Gary Francis hurling the discus. 1953 saw the most successful track and field season in Weber High’s history unfold. Competition started when Weber met Davis and East at the Warriors’ field, and for being early in the season the Warriors posted some very good marks, but failed to win the meet. Then followed a triangular meet with West and Box Elder in which the Weber thinclads took a good second place. Next saw the Roy Hassell the 880-yard and Kent Jones run at Region. placing first and second in Weber track men capture the city-county championship from Ogden High in a one-sided affair of 106 1/6 to 61 5/6. Entering the Region meet the mighty Warriors started slow but worked up to. a first place climax with a total of 78 2/3 points. Logan followed with 50 1/5.
