Opera production. Students will be required to learn and present scenes form one or more operas, and one light opera in its entirety. One or two lessons a week. Twelve hours practice. Four credit hours. Professor Manning. Band Instruments 1. Band Instruments. Cornet, clarinet, saxaphone, drums. Lessons in fundamental and advanced work on all band instruments will be given. Students will be required to appear in recitals' rendering solos and ensemble. One lesson and five hours practice a week. Two credit hours per quarter. Associate Professor Nichols. 2. Military Band. This organization gives students of band instruments an opportunity to apply their private study. A band is indispensable in a college. It arouses enthusiasm and school spirit, as no other organization can. In the past Weber has had fine military bands. This year it is hoped the band will eclipse all former achievements. Seveik technical work and scale studies. Nine hours practice required each week. Six credit hours. Miss Fisher. 2. Prerequisite: Violin 1, or examination. Study of good solos and works of Kreutzer, De Beriot, and Schradieck. Twelve hours practice required each week. Six credit hours. Miss Fisher. 3. Study of Concertos, and Rodin, Seveik technical exercises. Musical interpretation. Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters. Six credit hours. Miss Fisher. 4. String Chamber Music. This class will meet twice each week for practice and will be required to play at recitals whenever called upon. This work affords an opportunity to aspiring young violinists to study works of the best composers. Open to all students. One credit hour each quarter. Miss Fisher. Piano and Organ 1. This course consists of the preliminary study of scales and arpeggios, with memory and ear training. Works of Bereus, Koehler, Bertini, Loeschhorn, Kulau, and Czerny will be studied. One lesson and six hours practice a week. Autumn, Winter, and Spring quarters. Four credit hours. Mr. Oborn. 2. This course continues the study of scales and arpeggios with octaves. Works of Biehl, Duveroy, Lambert, Plaidy, Burgmiller, Clementi, Kullak, Heller, Grieg, MacDowell, Bach, and Hayden will be studied, with preparation for recital programs.
