Show 82 THE WEBER COLLEGE Commercial Arithmetic This course consists of a review of the fundamental principles of arithmetic, with a view of developing speed in their application through the introduction of short cuts in the working of problems. This is followed by a thorough treatment of percentage and interest, and their application to commission, insurance, bank discounts, stock and bonds, averaging accounts, partnership settlements, etc. Five hours per week, either semester. One-half unit credit. Text: Bookman's "Business Arithmetic." BOOKKEEPING a, b. This is a course in the fundamentals of bookkeeping. The rules for debits, credits, posting, trial balance, loss and gain, and financial statements are taken up. The course involves the use of the Journal, Cash Book, Purchase Book, and Ledger; and the study of Drafts, Bank Accounts, and Interest. Ten periods per week throughout the year. One unit credit. c, d. A continuation of a, b. Applications of the fundamental principles of bookkeeping are studied and practiced, in the following business: retail grocery, under the single proprietor form; retail hay, grain and feed, under partnership form; wholesale grocery under corporation form; and printing business, in cost accounting. The course is primarily for Sophomores and is a study of events, conditions and institutions from the time of the German Invasions and Fall of Rome to the present day.
