Show 72 THE WEBER COLLEGE The Weber Herald is the bi-weekly news organ of the students of the Weber College. The Weber Literary Journal is a monthly magazine devoted to essays, poetry and short stories. The athletic activities of the Student Association are baseball, track, basketball, and football. These activities are open to all boys of the school. ADMISSION Weber College is open to students of both sexes and for all nationalities and religious denominations. Candidates for admission must be of good moral character and must furnish evidence of honorable dismissal from the school last attended. Students of second, third and fourth year High School standing may enter Weber Senior High School. No student may register for more than four units unless special permission is given by the faculty. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS All High School students are required to take theology. Students are expected to be loyal to the spirit and purpose of the institution. Standards of honor and right living consistent with the Latter-day Saint ideals are required. No student shall be allowed to remain a member of the Weber College or be connected with it in any way if his conduct shall be considered prejudicial to the interests of the institution. GRADUATION Students completing any of the High School courses will be given diplomas. A candidate for graduation from the high school course THE WEBER COLLEGE 73 may be presented with a high school diploma after the earning of sixteen units of credit; three units in English, two units in mathematics, one unit in history, and two units to be selected from the following groups: Science, language, mathematics, history and social science. Provided that in some cases one unit in physics or chemistry may be substituted for a unit in mathematics. If a student has completed fifteen units of any course with an average grade of 85 per cent, he may be graduated, provided the unit not completed does not include English or the professional subjects for which the course stands. A good moral character is a requirement for graduation. No student will receive credit toward graduation in any study in which his grade falls below 60 percent; nor shall any student be graduated who does not attain an average of 75 percent in all studies included in the course. Students who do not graduate with the class in which they enter will be held to the requirements made of the class in which they are finally graduated. Credit is given for work done in other high schools, but at least four units must be done in this school. Not more than five units of work in any one year will be accepted toward graduation. This will apply to students from other high schools as well as Weber. A unit represents a year's study in any subject reciting five times a week throughout the year. Two laboratory periods are counted as one recitation period. Credit for one semester only in a subject that continues throughout the year cannot be counted toward graduation.
