32 The College provides services for personal housing as follows: 1. Supervisory services of the Dean of Women and the Dean of Men for all living arrangements of out-of-town students. 2. Weber College Men's Dormitory is open to all male students who are in full-time enrollment. Linen and bedding is furnished by the College. (Cost, $12.00 per month). 3. Bertha Eccles' Hall is open to all women students of the College who are in full-time enrollment. Linen and bedding is furnished bv the College. (Cost, $12.00 to $15.00 per month). 4. Information regarding board and room and light housekeeping in private homes in the City. FOUNTAIN SERVICE AND CAFETERIA Fountain Service is supplied in the College Bookstore, Annex 2, from 8 a. m. until 5 p. m. from Monday through Friday, Luncheon is served at a minimum cost from 11:30 a. m., to 1 p. m., in the College Cafeteria located on the first floor of the Central Building. BUILDING AND GROUNDS SERVICE For the student's class work and activities the College provides an adequate physical plant and a buildings and grounds staff which maintain an environment that is comfortable, healthful, and wholesome. The main buildings are: The Moench Building, Gymnasium Building, Central Building, West Central Building, and Vocational Building. The annexes are: Annex 1, Annex 2, and Annex 3. See Catalogue pp. 8-9 for the location of buildings, classrooms, laboratories, shops, library, auditorium, ballroom, swimming pool, gymnasium, student lounges, administrative offices; and facilities for instruction, ac- tivies, and services. The inner campus, the College grounds, a field on Porter Avenue, the adjacent park, and the City stadium are used for activity programs. INSTRUCTIONAL AIDS The College Library The College Library provides a rich store of materials especially selected to serve students and faculty who are following the curriculum. The collection, which is constantly growing in cultural value, includes more than 18,000 volumes in addition to a working library of pamphlets, documents, and bibliographical aids. The College, through its library service, subscribes to 120 literary, scientific, and educational periodicals, as well as to state and national newspapers. The Library is located in the Moench Building. The office of the Librarian, and the general Circulation Library, which includes the Catalogue Department, is on the first floor; the Reference Department, Reading Rooms, Periodical Room, and Reserved Book Room are on the second floor. The Library is open from 8 a. m., to 5 p. m., and from 7 p. m., to 10 p. m., except Friday when it closes at 5 p. m. On Saturday it opens at 9 a. m. and closes at 12 o'clock noon. It is closed on Sundays and holidays when the school is not in session. 33 Audio-Visual Materials The College maintains a Bureau of Audio-Visual Materials, the services of which are available to the Faculty, students, and the community. The Bureau administers the procurement, distribution, maintenance and utilization of teaching materials and equipment. The Museums > The Zoological Collection, a collection of vertebrate animals, mostly from the Intermountain Region, is housed in the Department of Biology in the Moench Building. Preserved amphibians and reptiles, as well as standard study skins of birds and mammals form the nucleus of what is intended to become a survey collection of the vertebrates of the western United States. Several cases of mounted specimens and a synoptic survey of insects and other invertebrates are also available for study. The Weber College Herbarium is housed in the Department of Botany, Agriculture and Forestry, in the Moench Building. The herbarium is representative of the plants of Weber County and is being rapidly expanded to cover the flora of Utah and adjacent states. It also contains two hundred sheets of South Pacific plants, and several hundred plants from the eastern states. The herbarium is open to Weber College students and to others whose training is such as to enable them to profit by its use. The Geological Museum is located in the Department of Geology, West Central Building. The several collections of minerals, ores, rocks, and fossils add interest to geology classes. More than 150 species of fossil illustrate the development of life during geologic times. Part of the several hundred specimens are arranged according to Dana, and others are from important or interesting localities. The rock collections, consisting of more than 300 specimens, are arranged to show rock types and localities. A very important collection is the John G. Lind collection of ores, minerals, and rocks collected during more than forty years of service by Dr. Lind. It includes large suites of specimens from mining areas and elsewhere in Europe, Mexico, and the United States. All these are housed in the West Central Building. COLLEGE BOOKSTORE AND STORES DEPARTMENT The College Bookstore is maintained in Annex 2 for the convenience of students and faculty. Here texts and supplies may be procured from 8 a. m., until 9 p. m., from Monday through Friday. The Store Department, where supplies are received and stored, is located in the basement of the West Central Building. FINANCIAL AID Scholarships Weber College grants tuition scholarships to neighboring high schools in accordance with the State law governing this activity. The numbers of awards granted to each school are based upon the percentage of freshmen in attendance from the respective schools during the previous year. Selections are made through the cooperation of the high school principals and fauclty, the College division heads, and the Awards Scholarship, and Eligibility Committee . Many scholarship students are selected outright by the high schools. A number of the awards
