Solfeggio. Designed for the purpose of supplying the normal student with the required rudiments of public school music. A practical working knowledge of rhythm, the melodic tendencies of the tones in the major scale, and elementary sight reading. Open to all. Autumn quarter. Two credit hours. Music 2. Public School Music. The rote song and the principles of teaching it. Methods of conducting a singing class. An opportunity is afforded students for individual demonstration before the class. Prerequisite: Solfeggio. Winter or Spring quarters. Two credit hours. Music 5. History and Appreciation of Music. A course designed to acquaint one with the rise of music, its relation to the advance of civilization and its reaction upon the individual. Open to all. Autumn, Winter, or Spring quarters. Two credit hours. Music 10. Elementary Harmony. Major and minor scales. Active and inactive tones. Melodic construction. Intervals. Two part songs. Triads. Four part harmony. Dominant seventh.
