This course is planned to qualify students to meet emergencies and conditions arising in the home where professional skill is not necessary, or where assistance can be given until medical help can be obtained. Adolescence and preparation for motherhood are stressed. Special lectures and demonstrations are given by medical authorities. Reports and discussions by students. Fall and Winter quarters. A study of systematic housekeeping, from the view of economy in time and energy, maintaining health, promoting happiness in the home; also the keeping of accounts, and the division of the income. Sources of the Old Testament. The purpose of this course is to obtain a fair grasp of the fundamental facts of the Old Testament, its historical record, and contribution to the understanding of the Gospel plan through the ages. Fall Quarter. Text: Genesis, Exodus, important and necessary parts of Numbers and Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges, I Samuel, II Samuel, I Kings and II Kings, with some additions from Chronicles, Ezra and Nehemiah. Also parts of the Apocrypha and Josephus such as will throw fight on the history of Israel between 400 B. C. and the time of Christ. Two credit hours. Old Testament 2. Social and Religious Ideals of Israel. The comprehension and interpretation of the social and religious teachings of Israel's leaders as a "practical working basis on which the social and religious leaders of the world can cooperate in promoting and conserving the high- |
