Show 20 WEBER COLLEGE The Weber College Gymnasium is located on Twenty-fifth street between Adams and Jefferson avenues. It costs approximately $350,000.00. The gymnasium was dedicated January 9, 1925, and serves both the community and the college, having facilities sufficient to accommodate two thousand people. It is governed by a Board of Directors, four of whom are members of the Weber College Board of Trustees. The President of Weber College is also a member. It is financed independently of the college, receiving in addition to the gymnasium fees, an annual appropriation of about $10,000.00 from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. Homes and Dormitories In addition to the above buildings, there are ten homes and dormitories, valued at $85,000.00. Stadium During the summer of 1930, the City of Ogden, the Ogden City Public Schools, the Public School of Weber County, and the Weber College erected the Ogden Stadium at a cost of $75,000.00. The capacity of the stadium is at the present time ten thousand. It is located at Lorin Farr Park, which is six blocks north of the college campus. Weber College purchased the reflectors for the night lighting system at the stadium at a cost of $3,000.00. Transportation With the opening of school in the fall of 1931, Weber College inaugurated the Weber College Motor Bus system. One motor bus transports daily approximately fifty students from Morgan County to Weber College; another motor bus transports daily approximately fifty students from Box Elder County; and another motor bus transports weekly approximately thirty students from Summit County. WEBER COLLEGE 21 Financial Resources Church Appropriation Weber College receives annually from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints an appropriation of $50,000.00 to $60,000.00. Tuitions It also receives tuition fees, which for the year 1930-31 were $17,000.00. Alumni Income The College receives annually from investments of the Weber College Alumni Association approximately $4,000.00. |
