Show 62 WEBER COLLEGE DRAMATIC ART English 20. Dramatic Production. In this course a study of plays will be made from a point of view of theatrical production. Each week a one-act play will be presented before the public. At the close of the Autumn quarter, major theatrical productions will be presented in the Community Theatre. Autumn quarter. Daily. Five quarter hours. English 21. Dramatic Production. In this course a study of major plays from the point of view of theatrical production is made. Technical one-act plays are presented weekly. At the close of the first term of the Winter Quarter, a major theatrical production will be presented before the public, and at the close of the second term of the Winter Quarter, another production will be presented. Winter Quarter. Daily. Five quarter hours. English 22. Dramatic Production. This course deals entirely with the study and the acting of major plays, four of which will be presented before the public during the Spring Quarter. Spring Quarter. Daily. Five quarter hours. ENGLISH LITERATURE English 40. This is a survey course covering the period known as the 18th Century Literature dating from 1688-1798. Social and philosophical ideas of the period are carefully considered in order to convey to the student an accurate understanding of this Neo-classical literature. Autumn Quarter. Daily. Five quarter hours. English 41. Shakespeare. The reading and interpretation of representative comedies, tragedies and historical plays. Winter Quarter. Daily. Five quarter hours. English 42. English Literature from 1798-1832. A detailed study of the literature of the period designed to give training in methods of literary study and presentation of the result. Daily. Five quarter hours. WEBER COLLEGE 63 English 43. English Literature from 1832-1900. A study of the poetry and the prose of the period designed to give training in methods of study and in the appreciation of literature. Daily. Five quarter hours. English 44. Modern British Literature. This course is a survey of the best literature written during the 20th Century. Emphasis is placed upon literary styles and upon major problems treated by the best authorities. Spring Quarter. Daily. Five quarter hours. English 45. The English Novel. From 1800 to 1900 Daily. Five quarter hours. AMERICAN LITERATURE English 60. American Literature. A study of colonial literature from the beginning to 1840. Autumn Quarter. Daily. Five quarter hours. English 61. American Literature. A study of the New England group of major poets and essayists and their immediate followers. Winter Quarter. Daily. Five quarter hours. English 62. American Literature. A study of metropolitan, southern, and western literature, emphasizing the spread of literary activity and the development of the short story and the novel since 1860. Spring Quarter. Daily. Student Activities Debating, Oratory, Story Telling, and Dramatics are not taught as activities separate from the regular courses in this department.
