Show The bride is a popular musician of this city. The bridegroom is a graduate of the Pasadena Junior College and attended UCLA in Los Angeles. While in the army, he was an announcer in special service radio in the armed forces, spending three-and-a-half years in the South Pacific theater. At present the couple will make their home in Boise, Idaho where Mr. Kyle is affiliated with radio station KGEM. Prior to her marriage, the bride was guest of honor at a beautifully appointed luncheon given by Mrs. Ralph Sanford and daughters, Claire and Helen. Twenty guests were bidden. A party for the bride was given by Mrs. Vern Harrop and Mrs. Reid Murdock, with sixteen friends of the bride in attendance. Mrs. Marriott was hostess at a family dinner held at the Graycliff Lodge in Ogden Canyon in honor of the couple. Fourteen members were present." It was difficult adjusting to married life especially with constant job changes for my husband. Our finances were just barely carrying us through, but with the help of prayer and of Forrest's family and love from other relatives we somehow settled into a steadier existence. We then moved back to Ogden where Forrest had found work at KVOG. Our Only Son We stayed awhile at the Marriott Motel on Washington Blvd at Canyon Road and then moved to where my cousin Donna Forsgren Heed had lived on 28th Street in a front apartment of a duplex. Then we located at 511 13th Street where we had the front of a comfortable duplex across from the Ogden Seventh Ward. While there our first child, Bradley, was born on Nov 17, 1948. He was a beautiful baby and we adored him. Two names were considered for him from an announcer my husband admiredTruman Bradley. Bradley was given a name and blessing in the Ogden LDS Seventh Ward by his uncle, Vern Harrop and his first cousin. Brent Marriott. Eula Byrne who also lived across the street would bring us fresh hot rolls. I taught piano students at mother's house and had a few dance jobsall of which helped in our family finances. I would take baby Brad to my friend Thelma Eskelson who was in the back apartment of our duplex when I had the night dance jobs. Forrest was not making much and I felt bad that he did not take a course in speech or other subjects which would show employers that he was furthering his education. Moving to California Forrest heard of a job opening at KDYL in Salt Lake City and so we moved there in January 1949 to a top third floor apartment near the Utah State Capitol building. The landlady had a nice grand piano on the first floor and I played for her one time. Forrest began to go to some sporting events in connection with his work. However, Forrest did not like the snow nor know how to drive in it and that year was an awfully heavy snowfall year. So Forrest wanted to return to the calmer climate of California. We turned in our old Ford car, and we got another one which was not much better. We bought it from Parry Marriott's used car lot. Mother and |
