Show My sister, Madeleine, has been a champion for right and has always given us a responsible example to follow. Her dedication to her immediate family, relatives, friends, and church is her hallmark and way of life. Her love, consideration, and loyalty to me and my family have been a great consolation. We have been very close, and I have felt her love and advice as substantial solutions to most of my problems. Madeleine has a marked artistic talent and discriminate taste in all things. She has labored many hours to keep accurate family records with much research and verification necessary for quality. At one time, I was diagnosed with cancer of the cervix. I was referred to Dr. Barnard, a Seventh Day Adventist. However, the first test he took revealed no cancer. Then he took a second test to be sure and this time he found cancer. I asked if this could be treated by radiation and he said nothat it required surgery and so the surgery was quickly scheduled. I was not upset about this, and I had a complete hysterectomy. I was up an working within a week. Sometimes I have had doubts that it really was cancer. At the time of Forrest's death, I was playing in the Dean West band. Dean was a very honorable, honest and kind man and considerate of me. He worked for PG&E and had taken over the orchestra leadership from Mr. Johnson who left the music to Dean and moved to Northern California. We played for a dance club out of Bakersfield at a hall called Town and Country and also for the Bakersfield Country Club, Stockdale Country Club, and an occasional wedding. Community Service I served as a member of the Kern Philharmonic Society and an article and photograph in The Bakersfield California newspaper September 24, 1962 stated: "Kern Philharmonic Society is out to see a capacity house for its 1962-1963 season. Mrs. Virgil Wright, presided over a kickoff luncheon Wednesday. Among workers attending were the group pictured, from right, the Mesdames Kenneth Glover, John Lavender, Louise Tiffony Evans and Forrest Kyle." On one occasion, with my nephew Lowell Marriott Harrop, we provided the music at a formal reception at the installation of the new president at Weber State College, Dr. Rodney Brady. I have enjoyed playing for many years for the Bakersfield Rotary Club. They kindly said in their publication. The SPOKE, one time"Great to have Ida Kyle back providing beautiful background piano music." I played for funerals at various churches and as organist for the Hopson Funeral Home is Oildale and Hillcrest Funeral home in Bakersfield.
