Show MARRIOTT-SLATERVILLE CITY HISTORY February 2003 At the February 20, 2003, Council Meeting, members of the Parks Committee were presented with a plaque by Mr. Jim Ito, in appreciation for their hard work and the time they have donated to that committee, in developing suggestions for the River Cove Park. During this meeting, the Council voted to vacate portions of 200 South and 2800 West Streets, under the Utah Code requirements for such a procedure. Before the vote, a public hearing was held on the matter with comments from concerned individuals. Council members were presented an updated copy of the Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances by Randy Phipps. The Mayor and Council appreciated Mr. Phipps for his work in preparing the information. An ordinance was passed to take regulatory measures to prevent litter, based upon state law. It expands the law to keeping lids of trash receptacles closed to prevent garbage from blowing onto public roads. The Council passed a resolution approving the Interlocal Cooperation Agreement with Weber County on the EPA Storm Water Program. They also passed a resolution acknowledging Dr. George Burbidge for his work, knowledge, and help given on this program. The City has received an eviction notice to be out of the building housing present city offices by May 18, 2003. The Council approved a resolution supporting the Mayor's selection of the bottom half of the building belonging to Cape Construction at 1280 South 1200 West, and allotting funds for the lease. The office staff will begin moving equipment about May 1. Negotiations are ongoing with Weber County Animal Control on monies needed for expansion of the shelter to accommodate contracting cities. Bits and Pieces Jacob Michael Slater, son of Michael and Heather Slater, was born on February 23, 2003. |
