Show Marriott-Slaterville City History November 2003 A final report from the sewer ad hoc committee, which was formed to address problems with the sewer district, was requested. Mayor Butler is still not a voting member of the sewer board, but he does have input, and feels that they listen to his suggestions, and that relations have improved through his association with other mayors on the board. The sewer district purchased property across the street from the facility as a buffer area and other like property will be considered in the future. In 2004 Mayor Butler will serve a one-year rotating term on the Weber County Fair Board. A Christmas party will be held at the city office on December 18, 2003, under the direction of Shauna Meyerhoffer, beginning at 7:00 p.m., directly following the council meeting. Joan Meyerhoffer submitted a letter regarding traffic issues in connection with the removal of a traffic light at the intersection of 400 North and 1200 West. She feels very strongly that the light should be left in place for safety reasons. However, the light does not meet regulations and will probably be removed when the intersection is reconstructed this coming spring. Mr. Morris suggested a letter should be sent to Mrs. Meyerhoffer explaining that the light is outdated and in violation of regulations. Councilman Delbert Hodson is concerned about the method of collection of sales tax by zip code and wonders if other cities are also having problems. He feels the tax could be better collected using a taxing unit instead of a zip code. Mr. Morris will do further investigation to see if the method could be changed or improved. The Weber County Fire Department is considering purchasing property in the city to build a fire station. They prefer to stay off main roads, such as 1900 West. They are also updating their impact fee schedule for the fire district. Bits and Pieces Trent DeVries, age 33, died November 7, 2003. William and Merrilyn London celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married November 20, 1953. Kylee Deru was selected Silver Wolf for Social Studies at Fremont High School for the month of November. |
