Show 20 ACORN Athletics Coach Benjamin E. Harker Captain Basket Ball Team Clyde Clark Manager Basket Ball Team Benjamin E. Harker Secretary and Treasurer Boyd Lindsay Captain Track Team Haworth Roberts Last year we were very successful, as far as we participated in athletics. Owing to the lack of a campus and gymnasium, we were unable to take part in some branches of athletics, which add life and afford advertisement to the school. Under the strict and systematic training of Coach Harker, a basket ball team was developed with which no high school team in the state could successfully cope. Our boys played ball with zeal, and brought home victory after victory. Of course, we met with some defeats, but in the end were decidedly victorious, having won the championship of the "State High School Basket Ball League." Though we made little showing at the state track meet, we certainly had a day of sport, when our track team met the boys from the Ogden High School. The score was close, but finally resulted in an undisputed victory for the boys of the "Purple and White." The prospects for basket ball this year are very encouraging. As yet the State League has not made out the schedule for this season, but President Harker of the league assures us that some action will be taken in the near future. The school team has not yet been chosen, but we are glad to note the return of forwards, Clark and Watson; guard, Roberts and subs, Ingles and Wiggins. We are also pleased to welcome Roland Call, a man from Paris, Idaho, who has a wide reputation of knowing the game. With this talent and much more to choose from, we will be able beyond any doubt to defeat anything in the field, providing we have the support of the Student Body. ACORN 21 Some improvements in the athletic room are anticipated soon. Twelve steel lockers are on the way here and will be installed for the use of the boys, as soon as they arrive. There is also some talk of equipping the room with hot water, etc. ALUMNI. (Continued from Page 19.) are sophomores at the University of Utah.
