Show THE BOARD OF CONTROL The Board of Control is the governing body of the college. It consists of the following members: The five student body officers, the President of the Sophomore Class, President of the Freshman Class, two Soph. representatives, Two Freshman representatives, the Dean of the Faculty, and elected representative of the faculty, and the treasurer of the school is an ex-officio member, or a non-voting member. The two Freshman representatives elected during Freshman year are elected for two years as are the Sophomore representatives. The main purpose of the Board is to guide and direct activities of the school. The Board handles the budget, which is about the biggest problem. They work under President Henry Aldous Dixon. THE WHIP CLUB The Whip Club is an organization composed of both Social and Independent Sophomore girls. It is not only a “Pep Club” but also a club of the Community, thus doing duties for the School and Committees and Community. Officers are: Carolyn Jensen; President, Shirely Kinsey: Vice President, Jean Wilson; Secretary, and Betty Ross; Treasurer. It is a lot of work, but also a lot of fun. EAch year they take a trip to California with the team. The way in which you become a member is through your own individual co-operation and interest. First you must become acquainted with every Whip Girl. Second you must be friendly to them and let them know that you are interested in Whip and would like to become a member. Third you must attend all the games. Fourth you must attend all the intermurals. Fifth you must be yourself and have full heart and soul in Weber College and all it stands for. Sixth you must attend the Whip Tea sponsored in the Spring. Girls, work very earnestly toward becoming the “Whip Type” and proudly honored to wear the “Purple and White.” LAMBA DELTA SIGNA Lamba Delta Sigma is a religious fraternity associated with the Institute of Religion. The membership is open to all students on the campus as long as they will live up to the standards of the Latter Day Saint Church, which does not necessarily mean that you be a member of the Church but instead christian. This organization is established of fifteen campuses and membership is transferable from one college to another. There is a Boy’s and a Girl’s Chapter, yet most of the activities are sponsored by both Chapters jointly. Officers of the Boy’s Chapter are: Jim Brown; President, Mike Hall; Vice President, Earl Remington; Secretary, and Boyd Methiss; Treasurer. Officers of the Girl’s Chapter are: Shirley Corkey; President, Garrie Reese; Vice President, Jean Wilson; Secretary, and Jane Timmons; Treasurer. Thursday night is “Lamba Delt night” for all social activities are held on Thursday evenings. Fireside, which is held every other Sunday at nine p.m. is also sponsored by Lamba Delt. However, everyone is invited to attend fireside whether they belong to Lamba Delt or not. |
