14 WEBER COLLEGE WEBER COLLEGE 15 sent the following two-year courses: Pre-law, Pre-medical, the Normal, Engineering, the Commerce and Finance, Physical Education, and the Arts and Sciences. In all, approximately 300 single subjects are offered in the respective departments. On completion of a full two-year course, either the Degree of Associate of Arts or the Associate of Science is conferred. In 1922-23, eleven degrees were conferred; 1923-24, twenty-four; 1924- 25, forty-three; 1925-26, seventy-seven; 1926-27, seventy-three.; 1927-28 , one hundred and On July 1, 1924, President Heber J. Grant, in behalf of the church, contributed the sum of $8,000 with which the Sheehan property, 332 ft. by 84 ft., was purchased. This property faces Adams Avenue on the west. September 15,1925, the Weber College Alumni Association bought the Rich property, a plot of land 109.5 ft. by 96.5 ft. This property is on the corner of Jefferson Avenue and 25th Street. In April, 1927, the Alumni Association assisted in purchasing from Dr. Edward I. Rich a plot of land 109 ft. by 33.5 ft, just west of the Rich property mentioned above. Perhaps one of the greatest achievements of the Weber College is the completion of the Weber Gymnasium. The idea of the Weber Gymnasium for Ogden City grew out of the power and enthusiasm of David O. McKay, a former principal of the institution. That idea has been nourished and fostered by the Weber College Board of Trustees, its faculty and hundreds of loyal students through a period of twenty-one years. Its completion and opening to the public January 9, one 1925, marks a great achievement of the Weber College, the four Ogden Stakes of the Church, and the community at large. This gymnasium cost approximately $300,000.00. One-half of that amount was contributed by the church, the other half by the people of Ogden City and Weber County. - r
