18 WEBER COLLEGE LOCATION The Weber College is situated at Ogden, Utah. It is a natural railroad center and has a population of nearly forty thousand. The lofty Wasatch mountains and the famous Ogden Canyon, just east of the city, afford excellent opportunities for the study of natural science. Near the city limits are two of the largest and most complete power plants in the country, where students of physical science have the opportunity of studying the generation and transmission of electricity. There are also, just west of the city, two of the largest grain elevators and flour mills, the Globe Mills and the Sperry Mills, in the country. Ogden is the center of a great agricultural district, and within a short drive the Amalgamated Sugar Company has one of its large factories, in which are employed the most recent processes of extracting and purifying beet sugar. Many industries, such as the cereal, can, macaroni, candy, tomato, and pickle factories, as well as a packing house and two cement factories, afford the various departments of the school opportunity for profitable visits during the year. A public library, which is a repository for the government documents, and which contains many thousand bound volumes and the leading magazines of the country, is open to all students. Opportunities are always plentiful to hear speakers, orators, and singers of national as well as international reputation. The four electric interurban lines and the five steam railway lines bring Ogden into close contact with the surrounding country. WEBER COLLEGE 19 The large College hall is located on Jefferson Avenue, between Twenty-fourth and Twenty- fifth Streets, opposite Lester Park. The new three hundred thousand dollar gymnasium adjoins the College building on the south and faces on Twenty-fifth Street. EQUIPMENT The library contains over 9,000 bound volumes and 500 pamphlets, (estimated). The College has five buildings. The laboratory equipment is found under respective departments. GYMNASIUM The Weber Gymnasium is open to all students of the college. Its attractive swimming pool, beautiful ballroom, and large basketball floor add new joys and advantages to the Weber College curriculum. Courses in men's and women's gymnastics may be found listed under the Physical Educa- cation Department. COLLEGE YEAR The school year is divided into quarters: The Autumn (September, October, November). The Winter (December, January, February). The Spring (March, A iril, May).
