Front row: Marianne Johns, Harold Oakes, Mary Jo Giles, Harry Ketts and Sheron Dewey. Mr. Graves is advisor for the Speech Il department. EXTEMPORANEOUS: Time and Newsweek magazines provided infarmation on current events from which the speakers prepared their talks. They each had five minutes in which to organize a seven minute talk. It took a lot of experience before these students excelled, but they did just that . . . and in competition too! These speakers gained a general knowledge of all current events so they could more diligently present their views, and learned to think quickly while on their feet. ORATORY: Although they could choose their own topics, those interesting to them, the speeches had to be nearly perfect in every way. The orators studied, rewrote and memorized until they were satisfied, and could enter competition. During the year many busy hours were spent in the library, searching for bits of information which would make a more successful speech. ORATORS are Nolan Jones, Pat Alger, Kaye Ferrell, Kent Van Kampen, Larry Blaylock, and Frank Slater. Catherine Moser was absent when photo was taken. 133 BPC ORE LLE PRR, BC RRS EIRENE OPT a eed OPTED BEET RED POS SION TSS nae SEES R) HIMES IS BERSIES OSS SES BS NERS PL OT 5 rare Bet DS EOIN ORE ERLE VERE ERM SnOe =e EDT ERAS ESSSSES BTOOTSES IIIS WED BORO oe OOO IE OL TOO Mie — is CRISS ; |
