Pettigrew Music It is recommended that a student pursuing a major in music complete the following courses: Music 1, 2, 3; 7, 8, 9; 10, 11, 12; 15, 20 or 24, and 30 or 31. It is recommended also that a student participate in the choral and instrumental activities and organizations directed by the Department. Each activity has a curricular basis. > . m 1. Choral. Each year those whose interests are in the field of choral music concentrate their efforts upon the presentation of an opera, the Christmas Oratorio and two formal concerts. Choral activities center around the College Choir. There are six smaller singing units: The Dorian Singers, a selected group of vocalists; the Musettes, a traditional choral group of women; the Mixed Quartet; the Male Quartet; the Trio; and the Duet, The Soloist Club includes only those selected singers who have reached a state in their development where they can represent Weber College as vocal soloists before the public. These combined musical organizations unite their efforts twice during the College year in the presentation of a formal concert. 2. Instrumental. It is the aim of the Department of Music to maintain both a band of standard instrumentation and an orchestra of symphonic proportion, and to encourage musical growth through the study and public performance of the best in musical literature.
