Rocks and Minerals. Sight recognition of the important rock- forming and other minerals through class discussion and laboratory work, and the indentification of the common rocks of the earth's crust by mineral content, their association and occurrence. Field trips into local areas are required. Three lectures and one laboratory period each week. Four quarter hours. Autumn. Buss, Lambert 7. Mineralogy of Rock Minerals. The minerals studied are those most common in the rocks of the earth's crust. Prerequisite: Geology 1 or 11, and Chemistry 2 or 5, or permission of the instructor.
