Radio Electricity. Fundamentals of electricity, D. C. circuits and circuit components. Magnets and magnetism, generators, dynamos, switches. Two lectures and one laboratory period. Three quarter hours. Autumn. Murphy 5. Radio Circuits D. C. A course in D. C. circuit theory, application of Kirchhoffs Laws, and solving circuits by determinants. Prerequisite: Mathematics 3 and 4, and Radio 21. Five quarter hours. Autumn. Murphy 1. Radio Circuits. A. C. A course in A. C. circuits and components, vacuum tubes used in radio equipment, amplifiers, oscillators, power supplies, superheterodynes. One laboratory period and two lectures. Prerequisite: Mathematics 3 and Radio 1. Three quarter hours. Winter. Murphy 15. Radio, A. C. Continued. The course includes the theory of series and parallel circuits; equivalent circuits, network theorems. Prerequisites: Radio 5 and Mathematics 7. Five quarter hours. Winter. Murphy 21. Huish, Coordinator Aeronautics 1, 10, 11 and 12 provide minimum training for a CAA Private Pilot's license. Aeronautics 2, 3, and 4 are required for a commercial pilot's license, and although not required for a private license, the courses are very valuable and should be taken by anyone who flies. Any student taking Aeronautics 10, 11, or 12 is expected to take Aeronautics 2, 3 and 4 unless he has had the courses previously. To secure a private pilot's license a student must pass a CAA test in flight and ground school. COURSES OF INSTRUCTION Ground School 1. Civil Aeronautics Regulations. A course of instructions in the rules and regulations of the Civil Aeronautics Administratiop and the State of Utah, including registration and certification of aircraft and personnel, flight, rules and air traffic rules. One quarter hour. Autumn, Winter, Spring. Staff ■ 2. Meteorology for Pilots. A course of instruction in those aspects of the science of the atmosphere that affect the safe operation of aircraft, and the facilities and services of the Federal Weather Bureau. Two quarter hours. Autumn. Staff 3. Aerial Navigation. A course of instruction in navigation problems, methods, instruments, facilities. Two quarter hours. Winter. Staff 4. General Service of Aircraft. A course in the general servicing, operation, certification, etc., of aircraft. One quarter hour. Spring.
