Show 1 36 — ——-— Home Beautification Mechanics 31. Interior Home Beautification and Furniture. A course considering home problems which may be handled by the housewife or man of the house. Emphasis is placed on purchasing, maintenance, repair, refinishing, and renovating of furniture and household fixtures. Types of furnitures, good and poor types of construction, and interior decorating are* studied: training in wood burning and other hobbyshop operations are included. One hour daily. Three quarter hours. Autumn. Hunter ■ 32. Exterior Home Beautifications. A study of garden and lawn fixtures, and fitting them properly into their surroundings. Emphasis is placed on designing and constructing fences, gates, garden fixtures, trellises, lawn furniture, plant boxes, stands and other items so as to fit properly into a setting. Home beautification is emphasized. One hour daily. Three quarter hours. Spring. Hunter 51. Traffic Appliances. A study of types of homes appliances, their purchase and maintenance. Emphasis is placed on electrical appliances, and water fixtures. Training in hobbyshop operations is emphasized, in plastics and art metals. One hour daily. Three quarter hours. Winter. Hunter DEPARTMENT OF MACHINE SHOP C. B. Larson The Department of Machine Shop offers work in the operation of common tools such as lathes, shaper, miller, do-all saw and others. This instruction is designed to meet requirements of Type A and Type B programs, also to meet the needs of a student intending to major in a Technical Institute Program. COURSES OF INSTRUCTION i Shop Practice 51. Elementary Machine Practice. A course designed for those who have had no or very little machine shop training. Shop discussion (group and individual) and demonstrations are given in all basic fundamentals of lathe operation such as tool grinding, setting up apparatus, chucking in universal, independent and collet chucks, center drilling stock, facing, rough and finish turning, shoulder turning, radial and fillet forming, knurling, external and internal threading, drilling, reaming, boring and taper turning. Safety precautions are stressed in all phases. Some bench work and hand tool instruction are given. Five quarter hours. Autumn. Larson |
