Show 80 WEBER COLLEGE Latin Latin 1. Elementary. Declensions, conjugations, and elementary principles of grammar will be studied and their force assimilated by extensive reading. Autumn Quarter. Five credit hours. Latin 2. Elementary. The study of the declensions and conjugations and the elementary principles of grammar will be completed. Winter Quarter. Five credit hours. Latin 3. A large amount of easy Latin will be read to develop the vocabulary and a feeling for Latin construction. Association of Latin words with their English derivatives. Prerequisite: Latin 2, or 1 unit of Latin. Spring Quarter. Five credit hours. Latin 4- Cicero. Several orations will be read. Prerequisite: Latin 3, or 2 entrance units of Latin. Autumn Quarter. Five credit hours. Latin 5. Virgil. Three books of the ^Eneid will be read and a study made of the scansion. Winter Quarter. Five credit hours. Latin 6. Virgil. Three books of the ^Eneid are read and a special study made of the mythology. Spring Quarter. Five credit hours. Professor of English Requirements for A.B. (University of Utah Catalog, 1924-25) A major in the department of English consists of 36 credit hours of approved work. The special requirements for the two majors are as follows: (1) General major in English: In addition to English 3 (Expository writing) at least one course in Language (Anglo Saxon, Chaucer); Composition; Intensive studies in English literature; and at least three courses in Survey Courses in Literature. Two of the required courses in Survey Courses in Literature must be selected from the following: Early English literature to 1600; 17th Century literature 1600- 1700; 18th century literature 1700-1800; 19th Century literature 1800-1900 (2) Teaching major in English: In addition to English 3 (Expository Writing) at least one course in Language (Anglo Saxon, Chaucer), Compository and Intensive Studies in English literature; and at least three courses in Survey Courses in Literature must be selected from the following courses: Early English literature to |
