Show 4 All this as well as taking care of two children and her spouse John. Ladies and gentlemen, Fran Arrillaga. The first witness appearing on behalf of the Hewletts is Robert Minge Brown, longtime partner of the law firm of McCutcheon, Doyle, Enerson and Brown. Although accepted by the University earlier, Bob's family insisted that he not enter Stanford until he was 15 years old. Later as an upperclassman he served as a sponsor in Encina Hall, the freshman dormitory. It was there that he first met Dave Packard and Bill Hewlett under very similar circumstances. On different occasions he sentenced each of them to work hours at the Convalescent home for disciplinary infractions. Dave's act was impulsive. In the dining room he threw a bun at a classmate who ducked. The bun hit Bob Brown. Detection and sentencing were immediate. Bill's crime was more calculated and more scientific. He waited until Sponsor Brown was in his room. He then filled a five-gallon milk can with water, leaned it against the sponsor's door which opened inward. When Bob opened the door, the can tumbled, the water spilled and flooded the room. Detection was delayed but forthcoming. The modus operandi suggested Hewlett. Justice was ultimately served. Since then, Bob has spent much of the rest of his time and talent keeping them out of trouble, serving as General |
