Music Majors and Minors only MUSC 3924 - Music Teaching and Learning in the Elementary School (4) As an introduction to the role of music in the lives of children, this course provides opportunities for music majors to develop their rapport with elementary students. The course will include selecting literature and designing effective instructional strategies aligned with the Utah K-6 music core curriculum as well as the national music standards. Students will be introduced to different philosophical and pedagogical approaches as well as develop and implement age-appropriate assessment strategies. Students will develop their understanding of music's role in an interdisciplinary curriculum. Afield experience with elementary-age students is required. Prerequisite: Completed Piano Proficiency. Music Majors and Minors only MUSC 3991 - Junior Recital (l) Applied instruction in preparation for and public performance of a 30 minute recital. Prerequisite: Piano proficiency.
