Most of the data has been obtained by personal conversations and correspondence with pioneers, or their sons and daughters. Several biographies and diaries have been consulted with the hope of making it as historically accurate as possible. And if mistakes have crept in it is wholly unintentional. Our purpose in compiling this historical record is to accumulate and preserve the names and achievements of the men and women who first settled this valley. And who endured the hardships and struggles of colonizing a new country. It is right and proper that we keep in mind the sacrifices they made in subduing the waste places and making it possible for their descendants to enjoy the present prosperity of this county. |
