Show Students Compete In Talent Show Olevia Tafiti, grand prize winner, performs with "Pace Pace Mio Di.' "The German Three" present their number, which won in the popular division. The annual student talent show, Mr. Weber's Wonders, was highlighted with numbers in the classical and popular divisions. Bob Welti of KSL television was master of ceremonies for the event. Olevia Tafiti, grand prize winner, became eligible for the regional talent finals held at Utah State University. Jean Groberg received first place in the classical division and "The German Three," a musical group, won popular division honors. Jean Groberg is presented the classical division trophy by Bob Welti and Janet Stephenson. Otyokwa President Pat Mecham receives trophies from AWS officers Ellen Fisher and Marilyn Suttlemyre. Fraternities, Sororities Have Songfest Flying saucers, sombreros, Indians, and colored lights were used to help the campus organizations who competed in the annual Songfest. Otyokwa took first place and women's sweepstakes. Delta Phi Kappa won first place and sweepstakes in the men's division. Second place winners were La Dianaeda Sorority and Phoenix Fraternity. The men of Alpha Rho Omega received a sportsmanship trophy. Following the evening of music, Dean of Men Rolfe Kerr discovered points which made the two winning men's groups ineligible. Officers of the fraternities met and decided no sweepstakes trophy should have been awarded, but they kept their first and second place awards. The men of Delta Phi Kappa present "Winter Song" and "I'm a Hayseed" to win a perfect score from judges. |
