York City, 1949) There faces the world today one of the greatest threats in its history. This threat originates from the Communists and the goals their system represents. George Orwell recognized this threat and knew that if Communism goes uncontrolled we may lose the right of freedom and equality. He wrote 1984 for the purpose of warning us of this threat. Orwell related in his 1984 the life that might lay before us if a government controls our life. Orwell possesed the foresight to look ahead and see what may lie in the future for the population of the world. He saw the complete loss of human privacy and freedom. To show this possible loss he presented the possibility of the loss of the individual’s right to think. He showed where it could reach the point where thinking would be a crime.
