Show Deanne Spencer Advisor to CAB “The College Activities Board (C.A.B.) is the hub of social activity at Weber State College. Sponsoring many varied events each year, C.A.B. committee members enjoy a unique opportunity to learn management and interpersonal relations skills, make new friends and have “good times” on a big scale. There’s a C.A.B. committee full of fun and excitement just waiting for your talents! Add another dimension to your college education with C.A.B.!” Jayne Akre Secretary The secretary of C.A.B. has a large responsibiltiy. she prepares the agendas and minutes for all C.A.B. meetings, keeps a scrapbook of all C.A.B. activities, trains all C.A.B. secretaries and in general, keeps all of the C.A.B. records organized. She also keeps the chairmen informed of deadlines and meetings. Becky Memmott Hospitality lf you like meeting people, entertaining dignitaries, planning parties, or making people feel special on special occasions, you'll love the Hospitality Committee. This group is the warm-fuzzy committee on the board and is responsible for the impression many people receive of Weber State and is also the means by which people feel at home here. Carolyn Wood Arts & Crafts lf its handicrafts or art, you'll find it on the Arts & Crafts Committee. Working out of the Union Hobby Cellar, this committee sponsors mini classes on subjects such as candie making, pumpkin decorating, Christmas tree decorations and many others. Todd Booth Films The largest single C.A.B. budget goes to movies. This committee selects, promotes and projects over 30 films a year. Film festivals, homemade movies, and married student matinees are also sponsored in addition to the weekly film series. 16 Doug Burch Entertainment The focus here is on local and campus groups. The Entertainment Committee auditions and selects a variety of groups for campus performances. This committee also plans, promotes and produces dinner theatres, special evening concerts and a weekly noon-time mini-concert series in the Union Building Gallery. Jeff Hoerr Special Events Large, super-activities are the specialty of this group. Events which often include input and coordination with dozens of other campus groups include the Halloween Party, Union Birthday Party, Wildcat Safari, and other major events. If you want to get involved in a few BIG events, this is the committee for you. Bryon Saxton Games & Recreation This committee deals with physical skills and pastimes from parlor games to river running expeditions. Traditional activities include tournaments in bowling, billiards, backgammon, chess and foosball along with the ski club, hiking, and camping trips. Programs are centered through the W.S.C. Outing Center and Games area. Yoon Mi Hamrick Union Cultural Expanding student and. faculty horizons in the Arts through exhibits, displays and performances is this committee’s goal. Using campus and community resources, this committee selects appropriate works, ranging from sculptures and oils to belt buckles and Christmas trees to be presented several times each quarter in the U.B. Cindy Leavitt Public Relations The Public Relations Committee is responsible for the Media Relations of CAB. They organize all the data of €ach event for advertisement on the radio and in the newspapers. They work closely with the Publicity Committee to come up with tricky slogans and creative ways to advertise. 17 |
