Show | ASWSC Worth ITes feel we aren’t accomplishing Dear Editor, This is in reply to a recent editorial that downgraded stu- anything. But as the old saying goes ‘‘Rome wasn’t built in a dent government and what we day.’’ We honestly are trying are to help the conditions at WSC trying to accomplish in ASWSC. I feel that student government is a worthwhile and viable organization on this campus. We are striving to better the conditions on the campus for the students. It is true we arrange concerts, convocations, ~.promote dances - even run the college bowl, but I feel that — these and other ASWSC pro- grams benefit the students by providing them with an oppor_ tunity to further their education either by coming to a convocation, attending CAB events or participating in numerous other ASWSC Programs. I feel that there is more to an education than just attending classes. Don’t get me wrong, I feel what is learned in the classroom is important but a _ well-rounded person needs to learn how to deal with people. Social interactions are important. The students that attend ASWSC-CAB events meet new people and by associating with new people they learn some basic social skills which are important in the business world. 3 We at ASWSC do many -behind-the-scenes. transactions to help the studentbody. We are involved in many committees which include faculty and administration that are work- “ing to help the students with their concerns. We’re trying, but sometimes with all the red tape involved it is hard to see or get fast results. Most of | what we do in our committees will be seen or felt over a. period of time, so some people - parking, food service, academics etc.. If we did away with student . government, lose campus. would © students their voice and vote on I encourage you as students to show your concern _for the campus, get involved. Thank you — Faye Hardy 3 ASWSC Public Relations V.P. © |
