He pastored for six years. Rev. B. J. Washington was called to pastor New Zion on April 8, 1952 and under his leadership the congregation grew He is a graduate of Booker T. Washington, Dallas; into the need of a new Church building. Through this effort, Wall Avenue Baptist Church became New Zion Baptist and has attended Bishop College. He graduated from Inter-Racial Baptist Institute in 1978, and has completed a special pastoral course at Bishop College. During LEADERSHIP Pastor Brantley’s administration New Zion has ordained one minister and one deacon and we have continued in spiritual growth.
