Genesis 33:1-20 Place: Canaan Golden Text: "Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept: (Genesis 33:4) Today’s Aim Facts: 5. Jacob showed us how we must come to God. First he came humbly (Gen. 32:10). Second, he came depending on God (Gen 32:11). Third, Jacob based his request on the promises of God (Gen 32:9, 12). AGE GROUP EMPHASIS Children. If we are to experience reconciliation with others, we must learn how to forgive and seek forgiveness. We can extend and receive forgiveness when we accept God’s forgiveness for our sins. Children are encouraged to accept His forgiveness. Take the initiative to bring about reconciliation when you have been wronged by someone. to examine the forgiveness Esau granted to Jacob. Principle: to teach that God forgive one another. Application: done to us. forgives sin and that we should to encourage forgiveness for the wrongs others have Practical Points 1. When we have sinned against another, the road to reconciliation involves both God’s working and our right attitude. Gaining acceptance therefore means prayer, humility, and repentance. Zi Repentance without some _ expression of adequate compensation will be meaningless. God, however, can work in every situation if our attitude is right. 3. We all have recollections of difficulties with persons. When themoment of resolution came, however, how good it felt! Jacob would doubtlessly experience relief and inward delight when he was forgiven by Esau. 4. One of the hardest things to do in life is to ask for and receive forgiveness. What made the difference in Jacob’s situation was his dependence on God. We must learn to depend on God if we are ever going to be able to receive forgiveness from others. Youths. Young people are very likely to notice inconsistencies in Jacob’s behavior. You may wonder why God blessed Jacob. Even though Jacob’s behavior was not pleasing to God, he was blessed by God. Sometimes God allows us to study some information for our spiritual growth and maturation. This might be such an example. Adults. Adults should seek to be reconciled to any person they have conflict with. Reconciling differences is important for any church that desires to grow spiritually. KEEP THESE TRUTHS IN MIND 1. Although morality is good, it cannot get a person into heaven; only faith in Jesus Christ can. 2. A person who claims to be a Christian should wholeheartedly practice his faith. 3.
