230 » Credit Hour Requirements: A total of 44 credit hours of dental science course work is required for the associate's degree. Additionally, 35 hours of prerequisites are necessary. Students must also complete nine additional hours to meet WSU requirements for the A.S. degree. Total credit hour requirements equal 88 hours. Admission Requirements The science prerequisite courses are listed below and must be completed with a minimum GPA of 2.25 prior to being admitted into the program. The application package will call for letters of reference, current transcripts and ACT scores, and verification of previous health- related work experience. Applicants are required to take a dexterity test offered through the WSU Testing Center. The application deadline for Fall Semester enrollment is February 10 of each year. Concepts of Community Dental Health (1) This course will present the basic concepts of planning and implementing community dental health programs. These principles include epidemiology, sociological concepts of health and illness, health behavior, public attitudes and principles of dental health education. DenSci 2205. Head/Neck and Dental Anatomy (2) Identification of major anatomical landmarks of the head and neck, their innervation, blood supply and function.
