Show 355 Continuing Education & Community Services Dr. Laird Hartman, Dean Weber State University Continuing Education and Community Services offers courses, seminars, workshops and conferences each year, working closely with the university's academic departments and colleges; with local and state government agencies; and with professional, trade, and special interest associations. These learning partnerships are conducted in the most convenient format for their purposes: classroom lectures, laboratories, workplace practica, online delivery, or by mail. These learning experiences range from academic degree programs and courses delivered in cooperation with the university's academic departments to customized noncredit courses that draw on community resources. Continuing Education serves the mission of Weber State University through learning partnerships with non- traditional constituencies. Continuing Education facilitates delivery of learning experiences in a variety of alternative formats, at convenient times and places, with appropriate student support services that meet the needs of its diverse clientele. A network of collaborative working relationships reaches pre-college students; working, re-entering and older adult learners; business and industry; governmental agencies; non-profit groups; public education organizations; and professional associations. Continuing Education addresses regional and national needs for education and professional development. Student convenience determines the locations for continuing education classes, training and conferences. Classes are taught on the main campus in Ogden after 4:30 p.m.; at the WSU-Davis Campus in Layton; WSU-North Center in Pleasant View; WSU-West Center in Roy; WSU-Morgan Center in Morgan and at public high schools throughout Weber, Davis and Morgan counties. Distance learning offers independent study and online classes to serve students in remote areas and those who prefer to work at their own pace. CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT Director: Peg Wherry, 801-626-6990 The Program Development team focuses on maintaining clear relationships with academic units and key client groups, leading to the strategic development of continuing education programs and activities. Professional staff are assigned as liaisons to each academic college at WSU and to major external client groups. CONTINUING EDUCATION STUDENT SUPPORT AND PROGRAM MANAGEMENT Dtector: Brian Stecklein, 801-626-6787 Student Support and Program Management provide support for all classes offered through Continuing Education. They work closely with Program Development staff to provide the best service possible to students, faculty, staff, and outside organizations. Learning experiences for students are facilitated through registration, fee payment, basic advising, orientation, logistics, and other forms of support.
