Review of the food principles, their relation to the human body; nutritive value and digestibility. Practice in the preparation, selection and serving of food. Prerequisite: Physiology, Chemistry 1. Fall and Winter quarters. Three credit hours each quarter. Daily. Professor Tanner. Domestic Science 2. Food Study. Special emphasis is placed on the economic use and cost of material. Students market, prepare, and serve luncheons for given amount. Prerequisite: Home Economics 1, Botany or Zoology. Spring quarter. Three credit hours. Daily. Professor Tanner. Domestic Science 3. Plain Cooking. A course in plain cooking will be offered to girls who have had no work in domestic science. Laboratory work in soups, breads, vegetables, meats and desserts will be given with instruction in food values and principles. Daily. Professor Tanner. Domestic Science 4- Home Nursing. This course is planned to qualify students to meet emergencies and conditions arising in the home where professional skill is not necessary, or where assistance can be given until medical help can be obtained. Adolescence and preparation for motherhood are stressed. Special lectures and demon strations are given by medical authorities. Reports and discussions by students. Fall and Winter quarters. A study of systematic housekeeping, from the view of economy in time and energy, maintaining health, promoting happiness in the home; also the keeping of accounts, and the division of the income. A brief review of the elementary principles of algebra, quadratic equation, fractional equations, exponents and radicals, ratio, variation and proportion, progression, binomial theorem. Daily. Autumn quarter. Five credit hours. Professor Stevenson. Mathematics 2. Solid Geometry. Lines and planes in space, polyhedrons, cylinders, cones and spheres. Daily. Winter quarter. Five credit hours. Professor Stevenson. Mathematics 3. Trigonometry. Trigonometric functions, solution of right angles, logarithms, solution of oblique triangles, applications, general trigonometric analysis. Daily.
