Show 66 WEBER COLLEGE - OGDEN, UTAH TRADES The following curricula are designed to prepare the learner for entrance into a broad trade. Department of Auto Mechanics **G. Z. Nielson, **C. M. Decker, R. Vandenberg Auto Body Reconditioning TYPE A The course in auto body reconditioning is designed to provide adequate training and experience in auto body work in all the different phases including paint work. Shop Practice. A course devoted to training which covers the following units: safety and equipment, car appraising, car preparation, body metal, light corrections, axles, springs, shock absorbers, frame and bumper straightening, radiators, hoods and lights, body frame, body panels, tops, body mechanism, glass, upholstery and trimming, body accessories, wiring, and paint reconditioning. Eight hours terminal credit each quarter. Autumn, Winter, Spring. Vandenberg Trade Technical. A course covering the technical phases of shop practice and fundamental information necessary to do the work of the trade. Five hours terminal credit. Autumn, Winter, Spring. Vandenberg Trade Related. A course including the related information needed by the learner to become a competent workman. The information is included in the following subjects: Drafting Problems, Internal Combustion Engines, Labor Problems, Physical Education, Vocational Orientation, and Vocational Science. Students deviating from these electives are invited to consult with the Chairman of the Division of Technical Education. Staff Automotive Service and Repair TYPE A The course in automotive service and repair aims to provide the training necessary to develop a competent automotive repairman in all divisions of the automotive trade. Shop Practice. A course devoted to training which covers the following units of work: tools and equipment, car preparation, service station routine, frames, springs and shock absorbers, wheels and tires, front systems and steering, brakes, rear axles, drives, shafts and universal, transmissions, clutches, engines, cooling system, fuel and exhausts, electrical systems, accessories, and motor tune-up. Eight hours terminal credit. Autumn, Winter, Spring. Staff Trade Technical. A course covering technical phases of shop practice and fundamental information necessary to do the work of the trade. WEBER COLLEGE - OGDEN, UTAH 67 Department of Carpentry G. Alexander Carpentry TYPE A The course in carpentry is planned to prepare young men to become apprentice carpenters and mill workers. Shop Practice. A course covering such units of work as: forms, framing, doors and sills, roof framing, timber framing, extenior finish, construction, forming, interior finish, building and setting stairs, concrete work, cabinet work, mill work, building hardware, woods, tools, equipment, and power hand tools. The training is carried on in the shop and on actual field construction work. Eight hours terminal credit. Autumn, Winter, Spring. Alexander Trade Technical. Collett, Max Germer Commercial Art TYPE A The course in commercial art is designed to prepare students to enter the field of commercial art and commercial advertising in its various phases. Orientation (Vocational Orientation), Physical Education 41, and three selected activities are required of all freshmen trade students. Shop Practice. A course including drawing with pencil, charcoal, and pen and ink; newspaper advertising layout; screen process printing; posters; jacket design; color; sign writing; package design, illustration, cartooning, and outdoor advertising. A student is allowed to specialize in one of the above fields in which he can show special ability, or he may follow the entire course covering the entire field. This course is of two years' duration. Five laboratory periods a week. Five hours terminal credit. Autumn, Winter, Spring. Germer Trade Technical. A course covering the technical phases of the art laboratory class, and fundamental information necessary for practical work. Five hours terminal credit. Autumn, Winter, Spring. Germer Trade Related.
