MARRIOTT-SLATERVILLE CITY HISTORY APRIL 2000 A concern was raised this month by Mayor Butler over the decreasing amounts of sales tax revenue. City Council members and staff were reminded by the Mayor to be frugal. The main reason that sales tax is down is because there is a three month lag in receipt of the sales tax revenue. This means that sales tax revenue received in the beginning of April actually came from sales made in January, and typically the winter months are slower for sales tax revenue in Marriott-Slaterville. Hopefully, as spring approaches the sales tax revenue disbursements will increase. Another problems with sales tax revenue is caused by our post office zip code (84404) which we share with Ogden. Local businesses using 84404 sometimes write "Ogden" instead of "Marriott-Slaterville" on their mail and tax documents. This problems has sometimes resulted in our sales tax revenue being disbursed to Ogden. I have spend a substantial amount of time working to see that each business in Marriott-Slaterville paying sales tax pays it to our city. The official post office designation for nearly all of Marriott-Slaterville City is "MSC, UT 84404". A small portion of the city south of 12th Street (S.R. 39) in the Riverside Industrial Park is 84401.
