Show The Pioneer Post Volume II Issue 4 Marriott-Slaterville City Newsletter April 2000 Message from the Council Here are a three items citizens of Marriott-Slaterville should be interested in: 1. The city council will hold its annual budget public hearing on May 18, 2000, at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will be in regards to how your money is to be spent. Marriott-Slaterville does not operate on tax money collected on your property. Sales tax from businesses within the city is the is the main source of revenue. By staying informed and actively involved in the budget process will help insure that this city will live within its means. 2. If you have to visit the city office, we would encourage you to look through our city history. Elna Lucas, Carl Hodson, and Bill Morris have done a very good job with this important part of our community. You might be surprised at how up to date it is. 3. The Youth Council is a very important part of our city. Youth are now involved in formulating plans for a Founders Day party to be held later this summer. More details will be forthcoming. We welcome more youth to serve. Please sign up. Orvil Holley, City Council President PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE 2000-2001 Budget Hearing Notice is hereby given that the Marriott-Slaterville City Council will host a public hearing on May 18, 2000, at 6:00 p.m., at city hall (1195 W 400 N) on the proposed budget. The budget hearing is for the July 1, 2000 June 30, 2001 fiscal year. Public omment will be taken, and your attendance is appreciated. An abridged budget projection is as follows: 2000-2001 Fiscal Year ABRIDGED BUDGET REVENUE Sales/Franchise Tax $ 253,000.00 Licenses & Permits 24,000.00 Charges for Services 2,500.00 Class "C" Road Funds 80,000 State Liquor Funds 1,400.00 Criminal Fines 10,000.00 Miscellaneous/Interest 6,000.00 TOTAL REV. $ 378,000.00 EXPENSES Leg., Ex., Jud., Branches $ 21,500.00 Administration 75,500.00 Operation, Equip & Ins. 25,700.00 Public Safety 76,600.00 Road Maintenance 80,000.00 Community Services 6,500.00 Public Works 59,700.00 Capital Projects 25,000.00 Miscellaneous 7,500.00 TOTAL EXP. $ 378,000.00 Note that Marriott-Slaterville City proposes a balanced budget for the next fiscal year in all itemized categories.
