This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show A nice visite to day. I go to Paris tonight with Edward as he intends going to Washington Dr. tomorrow night. We had a very pleasant drive over to Paris. went via of Bern. A beautiful night but cold. Arrived in Paris at 11 P.M. and find sister Rich in bed. A pleasant day. Munday 28 August/ 93 Paris. This morning I got up late after breakfast helped Sister Rich some with work and preparing Edwards clothes lunch etc for his going away. Maggie & Eliza Phelps & Mrs. Jas Holmes eat dinner with Sister Rich. Edward and I leave for Montpelier about 5 P.M. leave sister Rich feeling badly owing to Edwards going. Go via way of Ranch. Ma had supper ready when we got here and we had a feast on green corn. Edward spent evening with me until we heard the train coming in. Jim got off the train that Edward took. He has to rustle to catch the train. Am sorry to see him go. Watch the train pull out then retire. Tuesday 29 Aug. Montpelier This morning I gave three music lessons. Work on my blocks. Jim has a sore hand is not able to work. This afternoon I gave Emma a lesson after which go down to depot call on Claire & make one or two other calls. This evening work on blocks some. Retire Early. Wednesday 30 Aug. Montpelier Ma and Orren have been to the Fair in Bloomington to day. Lucile and I have been home alone all day. I got up at six this morning after ma left done up work and then worked on blocks. Auntie and Cora came over a while. Gave two music lessons this afternoon. It rained terrible today & Ma & Orren was out in it. Ella Rich and her niece Miss Brezzee spent the evening here. Miss Brezzee took the midnight train for Arizona. |
