Show 28 Upward Bound Telephone: 801-626-6798 Location: Annex 10 About Upward Bound Support Services ♦ Funded by federal grants to help low-income/first generation high school students from Davis and Weber counties prepare for higher education ♦ Designed to provide a pre-college educational experience for selected high school students in Davis and Weber Counties * Students must meet the Federal guidelines set by the Department of Education in order to participate • Serve approximately 75 students annually from five area high schools: Ben Lomond, Ogden, Clearfield, Layton and Northridge • Program purpose is to increase the number of nontraditional students who enter and graduate from college Academic Year Programming • Tutorial instruction in literature, composition, foreign languages, mathematics, computer enhancement training and general science courses in an after school setting at the five target high schools • Saturday morning study hall * Individual counseling for students with personal or academic concerns ♦ Monthly social, cultural and recreational activities ♦ ACT preparation Six-Week Summer Residential Program * Program personnel offer a summer academic enhancement program held on the campus of Weber State University • Students live in the residence halls, attend enrichment classes and participate in social, cultural and recreational activities Veterans Affairs Telephone: 801-626-6039 Location: Miller Administration, Room 103 Veterans Affairs is the liaison between Weber State University and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for educational benefits for veterans and dependents who are eligible for the GI Bill. In addition, Veterans Affairs provides a variety of support services to assist in making education a successful experience for veterans.
