This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show Thursday 31 Aug At home. Ma and I have washed all day had a very large washing. Jims hand is better to night. Ma Just came from the ranch and it is now late near ten P.M. To night I copied a song for Emil Vaterhause. Am tired so will retire at once. Friday Sept. 1 /93 Montpelier. This morning I gave Orren a lesson. also Sadie & Hattie Shupe. This afternoon I gave Emma & Violet a lesson each. Dampened down the clothes. Claire calls a few minutes she and I call to see Nettie Kennersley but she is not home. Jim and I go to a dance in the School house. Have a good time Mattie, & Maggie Folick go home with us. Pa goes to ranch today I called at Joneses a few minutes today. Saturday Sept. 2. /93 At Home all day. Iron. Give two music lessons. Clean up house get supper. Have felt fine after the dance. Think I shall go to I in morning. I wonder what E. I. is doing to night. Sunday Sept. 3/ 93 Montpelier This morning Earl Orsen and I went to Sabbath School. There was a good attendance and enjoyed it ever so much Came home from S.S. and practiced on a march to play in S.S. next Sunday. Ma, babe and I go to Meeting. Have read this afternoon and evening in Prince of the House of David Though. enjoyed reading have been rather lonesome Recalled with pleasure a week ago today Retire at ten thirty 10-30 P.M. Munday 4 Sept-/93 Montpelier Ma and I got the work done up early this morning and then go up to Aunties. I go into Mrs. Hollands & practice on piano two hours. Then visit into Aunties. Ma and I go down town shoppping. Get home at dark. Work in evening on quilt blocks Recd a card from Edward saying he is O.K. Tuesday 5 Sept Montpelier This morning I cleaned bedroom. Gave five music lessons today. Went down town this afternoon & have sewed this evening. tired out retire early after reading |
