Machine Tool. Training in tool sharpening, elementary training on Engine Lathe. Reading and study assignments on lathe operation. Application of mathematics to machine tool problems. 1 lecture, three laboratory periods. Four quarter hours. Fall. Staff 2. Machine Tool. Advanced lathe operation problems, bench work, job layout and elementary drill press operation. Reading and study assignments in lathe work, drill press and job layout. Applied mathematics, precision machining and measurement stressed. One lecture, three laboratory periods. Four quarter hours. Winter. Staff 3. Machine Tool. Introductory work on milling machine and shaper. Reading and study assignments of application and importance of these machines as basic machines in industry, mathematics and machining processes of these machines One lecture, three laboratory periods: Four quarter hours: Applied studied. Spring. Staff 4. Machine Tool. Advanced milling work, spiral milling, gearing profiling, cam work, use of various attachments in doing special jobs. Reading and study problems to give student a more complete understanding of machining processes on the milling machine and contour sawing is introduced: One lecture, three laboratory periods. A study of grinding principles and practices as they apply to surface grinding, cylindrical grinding, form grinding, centerless grinding, tool and cutter grinding and grinding work on a lathe: One lecture, three laboratory periods. A study of tool making including jig and fixture fabrication, tool and dies for punch press work, setting up and tooling for various production jobs included. One lecture, three laboratory periods.
